1. LASIK is painless
A topical anesthetic is used so you should not feel any pain during your procedure. You may feel pressure but it typically lasts less than 30 seconds.
It only takes 10 minutes per eye
You are awake during LASIK but we will give you medication to help you relax. In addition, many patients have commented on how much Dr. Parker put them at ease by calmly explaining each step (In fact, Dr. Parker’s nickname in the office is “The Valium Voice” due to a fun patient post on our Facebook page). We also have hand holders available when needed!
There is no incidence of blindness
To our knowledge,1 in 20 years of FDA clinical trials there has not been a report of blindness from LASIK surgery. In his 18+ years of performing LASIK, Dr. Parker has not had any incidence of blindness. The laser technology used for LASIK makes it a very safe and effective procedure.
Proven higher vision satisfaction over contacts
A recent study by Dr. Frank Price was the first survey to compare visual satisfaction between LASIK and contact lenses. The study concluded that 97 percent of LASIK patients were more pleased with their vision after LASIK than previously with contact lenses. Nearly two percent did not have an opinion either way yielding less than one percent preferring contacts!
Safe enough for NASA
Not only have the technologies used in the iLASIK procedure treated more than 15 million eyes worldwide, thanks to the clinical studies using iLASIK technology, NASA and the US military allow laser vision correction for their astronauts, servicemen, and servicewomen, including fighter pilots.2
